Reasons why people overeat
Everyone has his or her own unique reason for overeating. It can be some behaviour
learned when young or an emotional need which is not being met. It could be as simple
as being bored or a subconscious way of dealing with a major upset in the past. Food
can be regarded as a "solution" to unwanted feelings - sweets or snacks may have
been a reward for something in the past. So an instinctive reaction can be to eat
the type of food which was associated with this reward.
Better health is regarded by most as a major benefit; - feeling fitter and more energetic.
As is appearance and being able to fit into standard, smaller-size clothes. Along
with this goes a feeling of personal confidence and self-esteem.
